How can I print a C5 envelope from Writer?

Trying to print a C5 envelope from Libre Office Writer 3.5.7.2 I followed the Insert - Envelope route, set all the parameters and chose “C5 envelope” for the paper size, “rear tray” for the paper source and hit “Print” The printer lights up with the “preparing to print from PC” message and then - NOTHING. As a test, I changed the paper source to “automatic paper source switching” and then the envelope prints on plain A4 paper from the main tray. Using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

Did not have this problem when using Open Office. Also made the test from my wife’s Windows 8 PC with Libre Office 4. The results are slightly different - the envelope is still not fed from the rear tray but at least the printer tries to load some paper. However nothing is printed.

What is the correct method to print an envelope please?

Did you check PRINT preview? If yes, What was the outcome?
Also, just to test out the document…change the paper size to letter and print to see what prints and check margins…if receives a print then make sure your margins are set correctly at the envelop document…hope it hells!!!

Have a look under File > Printer Settings… > select your printer > Properties… > Device tab > ensure the Printer Language type is “PostScript (Level from driver)” rather than “PDF”. You can also set more permanently this by running /opt/libreoffice3.5/program/spadmin if the former method does not stick. How is the printer connected to the computers in question (USB, network)? What make / model of printer is it?

There are several open bugs relating to envelope printing. Some of them contain advice and possible workarounds. Unfortunately though troubleshooting printing issues is difficult as it requires access to similar hardware.

Done the Postscript level from driver and tried both level 2 and level 3, makes not one iota of difference. Printer is a Canon MP560, which, as I said in the original post, worked perfectly with envelopes under Open Office. Printer driver is the Canon PIXMA MP560 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.8-pre1 (color, 2-sided printing) standard one for this model.

Well !!! ai had the same problem after migrate to Opensuse 13.2 last week and LIBREOFFICE Version: 4.3.1.2 Build ID: 430m0(Build:2). Never see that before when I use Ubuntu 12.04 and CrunchBang Libre version 3.5 The printer is the same HP930c (usb) and in both system I used the default configuration set by the systems.

The problem is the envelope printing it’s wrong position as usual it take the right side and vertical printer from the printer. I try new envelope create on news version and the problem is the same. however the pint preview showed the correct print of paper.

How could you help me?
