How can I put mathematical equations inline with text in Impress?

Is there a way to put mathematical equations in a continuous way along the text in Impress? It is very hard for me to maintain the correct position of my mathematical expressions after I edit the text in the slide. After any new editing I have to rearrange the position of every mathematical formula in the slide. I can’ t believe this is the standard way to use mathematics in Impress!

There is a little fund on https://freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/473/allow-inline-graphics-formulas-in-impress-and-draw to help the development of this feature.

If you are interested, please consider adding a few dollars to it, as it may speed up development.

Is this mailing list entry from a couple of years ago any help?

EDIT: I did not have time before, but it appears bug fdo#35033 is the related report, which includes links to several related Apache OpenOffice issues: aoo#22309, aoo#29989, and aoo#88185. All this would seem to suggest that it is a protracted matter relating to anchoring objects (frames) as character in Impress. It may even point to a shortcoming in the ODF v1.2 specification as there are marked differences between which elements/contexts are defined for ODT/ODS vs ODP/ODG.

Thanks, they certainly mention a workaround, anyway it is far from practical for a large presentation. I wonder whether there is any plan to implement inline mathematics for impress, and when will it be available!

Yeah, I had a bad feeling it may not suit b/c as you say it is really just a workaround for smaller applications. I have updated my answer with more detail, although I am not sure it is any more hopeful.
