I’ve opened a large excel spreadsheet containing charts in your programme Libre Office Calc and the charts were correctly displayed. I’ve done some unrelated edits to other sheets within the spreadsheet and saved the changes in both formats (xls and separately as ODF spreadsheet). Now, none of the charts will display in either format. How can I retrieve my charts?
Many thanks
Ashus
Wondering why I’m getting no response to this Q. I’ve tried answering a number of other questions from peeps on this forum.
@Ashus - Whenever I ask a question and don’t get a response, I conclude that nobody has an answer or the information I posted was insufficient. This is my experience of a bit more than 2 years.
I actually looked yesterday at your issue by trying a simulation but as my simulation did not show any problem I had to conclude that I would need an Excel file in exactly the same format as you opened. This was the end of my activities. Keep in mind that MS Excel has various formats, which are not always compatible. If you want something stable in format on the long run, use LibOs native formats and not the frequently changing MS formats.
Should you still have the original file, I recommend
- to keep a safety copy
- open a copy and safe it without any editing in ods-format
- open (or keep open) your file in ods-format
- start your editing work in the ods-file and safe in ods-format
Is my answer useful? For the future maybe but in this case only if you still have an untouched copy of your Excel file.
