How can I set my install / documents to use English (GB)?

I installed Libre Office British English version.
But all the commands are still in Slovak. WHY? I HATE THAT. If I choose to have a software in English, I want to have it in English, regardless the country in which I reside! It is NOT more convenient - especially when it’s forced on me against my will.

The default language is set to US English, and I can’t change it. I have to change it manually for each and every document I start writing or open. It’s annoying as hell, but I would forgive that, except even when I manually set it to UK English, it doesn’t stay that way.

It only stays UK English until I hit Enter. Then it switches either to Slovak (if I have Slovak keyboard) or to US English.

So I start with UK English, but by the end of the page, I have ‘multiple languages’.

I tried to install the new version today. Nothing changed. I’m still forced to use Slovak version, and the language of documents still switches to US English/Slovak.

Is there any way to fix this, or do I have to uninstall Libre Office?

Have looked the options in: Menu/Tools/Options/Language settings.

Yes, of course. That was the first thing I did. I have the English UK as default for both interface and documents, I have the ‘Ignore system input language’ checked. And it still switches to US English and Slovak.

Sorry, @Venti, sometimes the basics are missing. Please try resetting the user profile sometimes solves strange issues.

Did you meanwhile try what “mariosv” had suggested (creating a new user profile)? It’s really most likely that a corrupted user profile is the cause of your trouble. Installing a new version WILL NOT REPAIR A CORRUPTED USER PROFILE. Best rename it disguising in advance of a fresh install.

Assumed a correct profile language settings will work as expected. I once experienced ONE funny exception: Having set in Calc ‘Use English function names’ superfluously IN ADDITION to English(UK) for GUI and default language I got some function names in Norwegian (Bokmal) and some others in Esperanto. Help was in English in both cases.

From which source did you install LO i.e., from the website or via PPA? For which operating system? If you are not on Windows, did you additionally download and install the Translated User Interface for English (GB) (a.k.a. en-GB language pack)?
