I have looked at all the drop-down menus but can’t find what I’m looking for.
Please tell me how to create text which is double-spaced between one line and the next.
Thank you.
Just found it by perseverance!
Go to Format, then Paragraph, then Line Spacing.
(What Line Spacing has to do with Paragraph I can’t begin to guess!)
If you have been, thanks for reading!
OQ: “What Line Spacing has to do with Paragraph I can’t begin to guess!”
Many users of ‘Writer’ need to have different line spacing for different parts of their documents. To easily allow this, line spacing is treated as a property of paragraph styles. This is the way text processing software did it for decades.
There’s another way that is better for continued or frequent use.
- You can right-click the paragraph
and select Edit Style, - or you can call up the Styles and
Formatting sidebar (F11), and with
the second big icon selected, [T],
right-click the highlighted
Paragraph Style there, select
Modify, - and set the paragraph style to double-spaced.
- Even better, you can right-click the current style
and select New, and create a new
style that is double-spaced, leaving
the original one untouched. Then,
all you will have to do to invoke
double-spacing is to select the text
and double-click on the new style.
In the long run, using permanent styles is far more powerful than setting paragraph parameters each time afresh.
