How create copy of sheet within spreadsheet file with page format but NOT page style linked?

Want to make copies of a working sheet within a spreadsheet file like a template and then make changes to the copy without having any and all changes rippling across all the copies I make. If go Menu Bar → Format → Page → Organizer I have a name like PageStyle_{sheet name} created by LibreCalc. Problem is I want EACH NEW SHEET TO NOT HAVE THE SAME “Organizer” name while initially being formated alike. Then any change to the sheet remains ONLY on that sheet. If I now make a change to the footer of one sheet, it now makes ALL the footers with the same change since they all have the same “Organizer” and I can’t change it. Argh!!! I need EACH sheet to be independent. I tried the Paste Special selecting all but the format which works; BUT, I now loose ALL the page styling going back to a blank slate. I want to have ALL the style BUT NOT any link making future changes to ripple across all the copies.

  1. Open the Sidebar and select the Styles pane.
  2. Click the Page styles icon (third from left at the top)
  3. Right click Organizer and select New. Give it a name, let’s call it Subsidiary
  4. Subsidiary has the same attributes as Organizer so Edit that style to change what you want.
  5. Click in each of the other sheets and double click the Page style Subsidiary to apply it.
  6. Copy the Subsidiary sheet instead of Organizer for future sheets

Here is the fix:

When ever making a new sheet in a file via a copy to preserve the general layout, the page/layout style of the old will follow the new. So any changes in the style/layout on the new WILL GO BACK AND FU YOUR ORIGINAL AND ALL SUBSEQUENT SHEETS! So before making ANY CHANGES, you must do the following to establish the new sheet stands alone:

Menu → View → Styles → Page Layouts (upper left icons Cell vs Page) and see what is there.

On the bottom status bar is displayed the current sheet’s page layout or you can pull it up by doing a Menu → Format → Style → Organizer to see the name (don’t change anything here!).

If the desired style is not displayed in the M-V-S-P listing, select which is closest to your desire and then “right-click” for a pull down menu to select New-Modify-Hide-Show-Delete choosing New. On the fill in page provided, delete the Organizer name and put in what you want followed by selecting OK.

Go down the list to find the new layout you just named and “double-left-click” on it. You will see the status bar change to the new layout.

At this point, you are safe to make formatting changes which will only affect the new and just created page layout.

Argh!!! Would have been so much easier to make it a choice to name a layout to then use multiple places. This cost me 10 hours of searching, testing, posting, etc. - colossal waste!
