L.O. 5.4 - I’ve upgraded my PC from one with Win 7 to one with Win 10 (pro 64).
On the new PC, Writer won’t allow more than 2 spaces between words. Sometimes I like to space things out to make things easier to read // line up with the previous line
This is an “AutoCorrect” effect.

options and go to Options
tab. Untick the Ignore double spaces box.
An alternative solution non involving spaces would be to alter the placement of words by enabling justify alignment. Note that justify may not only expand word spacing but also shrink it depending on the number of words in the line.
