How do I delete a dereferenced upload?

Another noob question that Site Feedback and FAQ don’t answer:

I can’t seem to find any information as to cleaning up after myself when I had to “replace” a previously uploaded file with an updated version. How am I supposed to proceed?

The platform takes care of that automatically (and asynchronously), there is nothing required on your side.
