I’m very new to this. I have written 2 pages of a book I’m working on. Each page is separate and describes 1 page of 1 page. I wonder how to format for consecutive pages rather than one page at a time. Am I making sense? Please advise.

If I understand correctly, you opened a new document when you got to the end of the page? The process is to just keep writing, Writer will create new pages as needed. Or did I misunderstand?

I guess most readers here don’t know what you have done to “format for one page”. If you just continue writing the software (Writer) will distribute your long text on as many pages as necessary on print.
For the helper to provide assistance it is always useful to know what the asker has and what they expect. In this case, images (screenshots) are likely to be useful.

I suspect that your issue does not concern document/content formatting, but how your document is displayed on screen while editing.
A couple of settings (menu selections) which you may find useful, or which you may have activated by accident to yield a confusing display:

View - Whitespace
By default this is enabled. If you select it in the menu, you disable it. Select again to toggle back.
When this is disabled, display of whitespace is “compressed” vertically. A page containing mostly blank regions will display only as a narrow strip. Select menu item again to enable. -
View - Web
This makes your content display as rendered in a web browser, not on paper. I.e. one single long page and side margins dictated by window width. Change back to “paper context” by View - Normal -
View - Page layout - …
- Single to have consecutive pages scroll vertically one after the other in “single file”.
- Multiple to have consecutive pages first spread horizontally if there is room for it, then vertically.
- Book similar to multiple, but gives a two-page spread. Even numbered pages left, odd numbered right.
