As a newbie to the subject and my needs being simple can you answer the following question? I am using Libreoffice 4.3.0.4 on Win7 64 Pro N (UK) btw. Having made and saved an .odt template in My Templates for future use. This being eluded to in Chapter 3 of the Getting Started Guide. When I open Base and create a new Database there appears no method of importing the Template for use as a Table. All I see is the usual Manual or Wizard methods which would be like re-inventing the wheel. I might guess i can hear a large sigh at your end “RTM” already before completing reading this post. So forgive me if this is the case.
A Writer template (OTT) file is not really the correct choice for creating a form through which to access your data. You need to be able to bind the controls in your Writer document (ODT and not OTT) to the underlying database in some way. Currently, Base provides no way of importing a previously created form into the ODB file. On the other hand, if you create your form first within your Base file using the Forms, you can then export it as a separate ODT document and play around with it some more in Form design mode.
