I am seeking a way to linke a textfile into a .odt.
We are running version control system where we need to link the version text into the document.

As far as I know you cannot use DDE with a plain text file. The source of the link needs to be a section or must have at least a bookmark or is a cell range. So the text file needs to be a .odt or a .ods file or similar.
You can likely solve it by using a macro.
