How Do I Merge Two Presentations

I have two separate Libreoffice presentations which I would like to merge into one file.

If I use “Insert ==> File”, the second presentation is indeed merged, but not all slide content is there.

Some of the pictures in certain slides are missing.
Some of the titles in certain slides are missing.
Some of the movies in certain slides are missing.
The missing items seem to be random.

Any help would be most welcome

What file format are you using? Also what operating system and LO version?

I would open both presentations and copy slides from one presentation to another (CTRL + C and then CTRL+V)… did you try this? or I didn’t get your question?

I am using the native ODP format.
Both presentation were created using Libreoffice ver 4.0.4.2.
I tried merging them both on WinXp and Win7. Ended up with the same result, i.e. not all slides are merged correctly.

To the one who offered to do Ctrl+c Ctrl+v, I would like to see you do it one slide at a time, 100 times! My files are more than 100 slides each, that’s why I worked on them separately, to begin with.

Now that I finished my work, I would like to merge them into one big happy presentation.

Yes, but you can selected them all from Slides (at the left part of the windows) and copy them… try it it is very simple…

Tried it. The result is even worse than the result of File==>Insert

I understand your pain… I sent (kind a similar) feedback via Help → Send Feedback menu in Impress for copying-paste function (https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=66418) I find it annoying that Impress copy text formatting from Writer when copying to slides where font is supposed to be pretty standardized (for example font size are supposed to be 28 and not 12 which most of us use in Writer)…

Thanks for clarifying. I’ve given your question +1 so you should be able to post comments now (if you could not before). It sounds to me like this could be a bug. Copy + paste between ODPs should not exhibit this type of problem and if it does and settings do not help it needs to be reported.

The random nature might be a memory handling problem. What are your memory settings under Tools > Options… > LibreOffice > Memory ? I have “100 | 256 | 20.0 | 00:10 | 256” here. Please try adjusting your settings first and see if that makes any difference. 100 slides could contain quite a bit of information. Image handling in LO is known by the developers to have problems.

There are a few open copy/paste bugs for Impress relating to styles or specific embedded objects (e.g., Excel table) but nothing I can find that indicates your more general problem. If the memory settings do not make any difference, please raise a bug and provide as much information as possible. A test file would be ideal. The QA team will be happy to triage your problem in the bugtracker.

Please also report any bug raised back here in a comment in the form “fdo#123456”.

Thanks. To begin with, I solved my problem by using the +sign next to the file to be inserted, and selecting each time only 10 slides. So now I have my complete file intact. As to the memory settings. Adjusting the values to the ones you posted, made no difference. Unfortunately, my slide show contains some private material which I will not attach to the bug report
