Will your new computer be another mac or a Linux based computer?
If another mac, use a mac based back-up program to make a full back-up of your user files (word processing, spreadsheets, images, etc) and then re-load with that back-up software.
If you are moving to a Linux based computer, the procedure would be essentially the same, but you would need to verify that the back-up program works on both the mac and the Linux computer before doing anything.
