How do I open Powerpoint presentations in Impress such that the equations don't disappear?

I’m a maths teacher, so I use a lot of resources made by other people, and most presentations are produced in Powerpoint. Due to the subject matter, most of them also have equations in them. When I use Impress to open a presentation made in Powerpoint, the equations disappear. There’s not even a blank box where they used to be - they’re just deleted.

This makes Impress pretty useless for me. Is there anything I can do to get presentations to open with equations in tact?

if you have this problem on the Android operating system, then try to clear the application permissions and then select it again when you open the file
