How do I remove the tab added automatically to titles?

Hi,
in some documents when I create a title, a tab gets created to the left of it.
I tried modifying the style to see where the problem is but could not remove it from the style.
Please see attached document for details.

Headings are members of a dedicated list which is used to build a table of contents. As a consequence, all limitations and specificities of lists apply. One of these surprising behaviours is the fact that the list style takes control of the left “geometry” of the paragraph style (here Heading n), meaning that tweaking parameters in Indents & Spacing will not change the left side of the paragraph.

You must then work on the list style. In the case of headings, to avoid damage to the heading outline and mixing ordinary lists with headings, there is no “explicit” list style, it is an internal one.

You can customise it only through Tools>Chapter Numbering.

I think your problem comes from a change in LO (I can’t tell in which release it appeared – by the way, you didn’t mention your LO version) where this separator is now systematically inserted, even when no number is requested.

Fix:

  1. Tools>Chapter Numbering, go to Position tab
  2. select the level you want to change (or 1-10 to operate on all of them simultaneously)
  3. change Number followed by Nothing
  4. OK

Excellent! It worked. Precise answer @ajlittoz !

Or update to 7.6.x, see Bug 151974 - “Send outline to clipboard” and pasting indents previous headings

Your sample document indicates that PASCAL should be a subtitle but the style is set to Heading 1. If you change the style to Subtitle, you can change the alignment from Center to Left. You can then make any other changes like to the font.
