How do I set Protonmail as the default email client in LibreOffice?

Good Morning!
I’m using LibreOffice on a Windows 11 laptop.
How do I set Protonmail as the default email client in LibreOffice, for when I am editing a document and use the file drop-down menu and wish to SEND (generally opting for Microsoft Word default format)?
Separately, I also use LibreOffice operating under Linux Mint 22.1 on this dual-boot computer, and would have the same question.
Any help would be appreciated!

Is “Protonmail” an email client application? Or is it just a web service? If the latter, then you can only set actual mail client applications to work with LibreOffice (and on Windows, the requirement is that they support SimpleMAPI). Use e.g. Thunderbird.

In the Windows settings, you can declare Thunderbird as your default mail client. This adds one functionality to LibreOffice: you can attach documents to new mails via menu:File>Send>Email Document or PDF.
Without this functionality, you would attach the saved document file to a new email in the same way as you would do with any other file.

Good point, Mike. I actually use Thunderbird as the email application to access my Proton mail (dah!). I do my best to avoid anything microsoft. I wonder if Thunderbird can be set as default email client?

Thunderbird definitely can be set. Its installer usually does it all to set it the default SimpleMAPI app on the system.
