How do the software and documentation versions relate?

The version of LibreOffice Base that I am using is
Version: 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 6d98ba145e9a8a39fc57bcc76981d1fb1316c60c
CPU threads: 14; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 26100); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

The manual I am trying to use says “Base Guide 7.3”

Those two version numbers seem like they are different version numbering systems altogether. Can someone explain how they relate.

By the way, the manual title says “Base Guide 7.3” but the HTML metadata says Base Guide 7.2

After version 7.6.x.x, the numbering system changed to a biennial year.month based system, YY.M.x.x, so it changed to 24.2, and then 24.8, 25.2… See ReleasePlan - The Document Foundation Wiki

I don’t think there have been many major changes to Base recently, some bug fixes and some improvements, e.g. ReleaseNotes/24.2 - The Document Foundation Wiki , so the Base Guide 7.3 is still accurate.
