How does one enable experimental features?

The documentation says

Enable experimental features: in Tools ▸ Options… ▸ LibreOffice ▸ Advanced check Enable experimental features (may be unstable).

But there is no “Options” sub-menu under the Tools menu.

Here are two screenshots to prove it. These are taken from LibreOffice 5.3.0.3.

The first is from the top level of LibreOffice before opening any documents.
The second is from Writer after creating a blank document.
Neither one of them shows “Options” under the Tools menu.

Did this feature simply not make it into the release? That would seem unlikely because the experimental ribbon interface is featured so prominently in the release notes.

Macintosh? Do you have a Libreoffice option at the top menu level?

Yes, there is a “Libreoffice” at the top menu level. Here is a picture of that.

And yes, this is on a Mac. Are you suggesting that the instructions for enabling the experimental features don’t work on Mac OS? The docs don’t say anything about the instructions being specific to one OS or another.

Hi
I enabled experimental features by going:
Preferences>Advanced>Experimental features.
Then under the View menu:
Toolbars>customize toolbars. Scroll down the list to find Notebook bar.
for the moment however, all it seems to do is add the word ‘Notebook’ to the toolbar.
