A long document from 2017 using straight quotes suddenly began displaying curly quotes in all new entries. When I attempted to replace them, ALL quotes in the document changed to curly quotes. Is there any way I can use straight quotes without delving deeply into the software, as discussed in answer to a similar question from 2013 involving a specific font?
Tools>AutoCorrect>AutoCorrect Options and go to Localized Options tab. Here, Uncheck Replace box for Single Quotes and Double Quotes.
AutoCorrect by default replaces straight quotes by curly quotes, which is usual in styled typography.

That makes sense, and I overlooked that tab, not recognizing it as relevant. But I followed those instructions to the letter, clicked OK, then tried every option under “AutoCorrect,” including unchecking “while typing,” and with and without selecting the entire text, and I still have curly quotes throughout the document. How do I get Office Writer to apply the change?
Further info 60 minutes on: New text is displaying straight quotes, and so is everything prior to the middle of an entry from 9/26/18, but I can’t seem to get the text between that point and a couple of hours ago to change.
The transformation occurs when text is typed. It does not act on existing unmodified text. Consequently, you must operate manually on the curly occurrences. Sorry.
Note: [M] and [T], which don’t apply to quotes transformation, respectively mean “do it on modification or initial entry”.
