How to add heading row to an existing table in Writer

Hi,

I’m using LibreOffice 7.1.3.2 on Windows 10.

Is it possible to add heading row to an existing table that doesn’t have one?
I can’t find any information about this in newest Writer Guide. I found older Guide (for 4.0), but changing paragraph style for the first row nor applying table style, doesn’t seem to work.

Additional bug I found during testing is that “Repeat heading” option is quite buggy. In a table that was created with a heading row, it doesn’t have any effect on a table unless you manually delete rows on the next page. After that I can’t check the option again - it unchecks after adding a new row to the table.

Cheers and thanks in advance.

Mark the top row.
Choose Table>Insert>Rows Above from the menu.

I hope that can help.

It wasn’t exactly what I meant, but after restarting it works mostly as I would expect. Still, thank you for your answer.

My only gripe right now is with the “Repeat heading” setting in “Table Properties”. When I uncheck it, repeated heading (on the next page) doesn’t disappear on its own. I have to manually delete it, which in turn deletes the original heading (on first page), I then have to undo once, and finally it looks how it’s supposed to.

It’s probably my fault somehow, but I think that’s not how it should work.

Cheers

Today, I downloaded and installed LO 7.1.3.2 to test. I can reproduce the table problem in that version, there might have been a reason it was available for only 10 days.
To fix install:

  • latest release, 7.1.5.2

  • or stable 7.0.6

Cheers, Al

Darn, you are right. I updated LibreOffice recently, but it had to be on different PC, so it didn’t occur to me. Thanks for your time.
