How to allow F3 to perform as it does in MS Office

I have very few problems using LibreOffice (coming from decades-long use of MS Word), but the one change I cannot/do not wish to change is my habitual use of F3 for search (and search-next).

[To address the issue jlittoz mentioned: F3 is SEARCH(=FIND) (for text), and subsequently for SEARCH NEXT(=FIND NEXT) [unless you [optionally] change the search term]]. Hope this clarifies! -pt]

Any way to do this?

I’ve searched online, e.g.:

libreoffice search “f3” compatibility with microsoft word “find next”

…to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated!

Don’t assume we are familiar with M$ Word behaviour. Using LO is an excellent reason for not using (and being familiar with) Word. So, please, edit your question to explain what F3 does.

First search must be done with Ctrl+F (the same as menu Edit - Find; or Ctrl+H for the Find & Replace dialog).

As long as the cursor remains in the Find Text field of the Find toolbar, you can press F3 to find the next occurrence.

If the Find toolbar is closed, you can repeat the search by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F. But you can customize your keyboard shortcut to reassign Repeat Search to F3.

Tested with LibreOffice 6.4.7.2 (x86); OS: Windows 6.1.

Works fine with 7.1.2.2 also. Strange, the shortcut is not listed in the help files.

For this kind of narrow detail, I don’t trust the help files which may lag behind implementation. I rely on the list of functions in Tools>Customize dialog.
