How to anchor image in stationery

Like many other people, I am frustrated with how to get images to stay where I want them.

In this case, I want to put the logo of our organization in the header. I read somewhere that the best way to do this is to anchor the image to the page. However, when I save the document with the image anchored to the page and open it up again, the image is no longer anchored to the page but reverts to being anchored to a character. This means that it has moved from the header into the main body.

I would appreciate some explanation of why the image won’t stay anchored to the page. Also, what is the best way to ensure that objects remain where I want them? What is the easiest way to set up a stationery template? This should not be so hard!

Thank you for your insights.

Which file format do you use? If you are using doc(x), try with odt.

On the other hand, if you want the same image on every page header the best way is to anchor that image to the paragraph inside the page header.

Enable the header on the page style in use, either by editing the page style or by using the Insert → Header and footer shortcut, put the cursor inside the header and then insert the picture.

And of course, save the document as odt
