How to change the default behavior when setting cell background?

Windows, Version 6.2.3.2.
In LO Calc, right click on a cell, select Format Cells. Click the Background tab, the default is “None”. How do I make the default selection the Color button, so that the color grid appears first?

You can’t. It’s not “the default in None”, it just shows you which is the current fill mode. It can’t tell you “this cell has a color fill” unless it actually has a color applied.

If you make your cells actually have a color applied (e.g., by editing Default cell style to have white background in your default template), you would have it opened on the desired tab - but that has side effects like not seeing grid by default, etc.
