How do I make it so every time I open writer or calc the document is zoomed by default to 120%?
Hello,
the zoom setting is stored within a file and having said this, it should be clear how to set - you need to create your own default template having the zoom factor set to 120%.
Description for Calc
- Open an empty calc file
- Set zoom to
120%
File -> Templates -> Save as Template...
- Provide a Template Name (e.g:
MyCalcDefault
) - Select a Template Category (e.g.
My Templates
-
Important - Check
[x] Set as default template
- Click button
Save
- Close the file
- Open a new spreadsheet and check your new setting
For Writer the procedure is analog.
Hope that helps.

Thank you that seems to help. Some files did not change the default view, but it might be because it was an .lsx file made in a recent version of exel.
Hope they add a setting in the GUI that people can change easily.
To be clear: As stated in my answer, it is a setting stored within a document. Thus it will change, if you open a document with another setting and for sure the procedure won’t help on foreign formats. And due to the same reason, don’t expect it to become a GUI setting.
