How to change the EDITING BACKGROUND (not document background

I want to save my eyes from typing on white screen. I’d like to change it to Windows color that I customized. I could do this on wordperfect. Is this feature available? The document will still print out as having white background. Only when I’m typing the document, the background should be my customized color. Any way?

Under Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Application colors change the Document background colour.

NOTE: If you don’t like the predefined colours, it is possible to define new ones under Tools → Options → LibreOffice → Colors.

Thanks for answering. It this the editing background, not document background? (the document will be printed as white background?) It seems to be document background?

Exactly. If you want to be sure, just export it to PDF first

NOTE: for some reason the “print preview” that you can activate from the standard toolbar will be wrong, but if you open the Print dialogue (Ctrl-P) the “real print preview” will be shown, with the white background.

Hi, but that’s not what I want. I want the document just white as it is normallly. What I want is to customize the background color in EDITING MODE, just to save my eyestrains. e.g. on wordperfect I can choose Windows color, so when I compose a document, the background is the windows color that I had personalized, but this does not affect the document itself. Document is still white.

It should be in the User Interface “View”, but I don’t see such feature.

Did you try what I’ve said on my first answer? That will only change the colour on “editing mode”, as you said, not on the “real” document that will stay white.

Yes, I tried, it works! Thank you!

You can also set the page background color - this is the area within the page margins - to a color or pattern. Do it in the default template for it to affect all documents. Then under options / writer / print, uncheck (print) page background.

Hi, I think I just realized what you mean. You mean (sincer there is no view background color feature) to set page background color to the desired view color, and if/when printing the file, just uncheck the page background (guess there is a checkbox somewhere?)? How to make a default template?
