How to combine a toolbar and the formula bar in one line?

Greetings,

Ubuntu 22.04
LibreOffice 7.3.4.2

I am currently using Calc, and I would like to set up a single line bar at the top that contains the current formula bar, plus a two icon toolbar. I have successfully created the two icon toolbar, and can cause it to display. I can also move the toolbar to different positions within the toolbar display area.

I would like to be able to move this toolbar to the left side of the formula bar, so that I have both of these on a single line (thus reducing the amount of space for menus / toolbars / formula bar, and maximizing the amount of space available for the actual spreadsheet.

Is there a way to cause these to be displayed on the same line? Alternatively, is there a way for me to add the functionality of the formula bar to a toolbar, then simply display that toolbar and remove the formula bar? Either of these methods would solve my problem, so long as the changes are persistent across multiple uses of Calc.

Thank you in advance for any information or assistance you may provide.

…then simply display that toolbar and remove the formula bar?

I do not know of any such possibility.

Try the different UIs and see if there is something for you.

User interface in Writer

@Hrbrgr,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I have already looked at the various UI options (at least, all the ones that show up on the Tools > User Interface menu), and none of those seem suitable to my task - Single Toolbar comes closest, but still takes two lines (one for the toolbar, and one for the formula bar). I would like to combine those (the toolbar and the formula bar) into a single line, to save space on the screen for the data I need to display.

To see more data at once, you can also change the zoom setting.
Go to the View>Status Bar menu.
On the far right of the status bar you can adjust the zoom setting.
Or choose View>Zoom from the menu.

@Hrbrgr,

Thanks for the pointer on zoom. Unfortunately, my screen display is already sized such that any further reduction would mean I wouldn’t be able to clearly see the data.

As indicated in another reply, it appears that I can’t do what I was seeking to do. So I’ll have to live with another way of doing it (the way I am currently using).

But thanks again for the pointers.

Maybe you could see near one more row, reducing the icon size for the toolbar.

@LeroyG

Thanks for the suggestion about the toolbar icon size. Unfortunately, on my display, it doesn’t change the size of the toolbar line itself, just the size of the icons displayed within that area. I don’t know if that’s just a reflection of my system, or if that’s “by design” for LibreOffice.

But it was worth a look. Thanks again.

It’s not possible; the Formula Bar with its Input Line / text edit technically is not a toolbar. It also isn’t offered as such in Customize so that it could be assigned functions/buttons.

@erAck,

Thank you for your response.

I was afraid that this would be the answer - while I know I didn’t try everything, if it were possible, something I tried should have at least gotten me closer.

I will continue with my current method, which involves more steps, but does work.

Thanks again.
