how to correctly create and manage a bug report

Have read how to file a bug report on the bugzilla website and created the following bugs report / enhancement request in May but there appears to be no activity surrounding this.

I did changed the status from UNCONFIRMED to NEW but there has been no changes to this or questions.

Am I supposed to allocate this to someone or group? If so, which ones? Are there any other properties I should set?

Have also logged an actual bug but worried it will never be actioned. What do I do?

I took the liberty to change common to meta as this question is not related to LO usage.

worried it will never be actioned. What do I do?

  1. Learn to program.
  2. Make a patch.
  3. Submit.

This is the only way to guarantee that your report is handled.

Also, maybe you should learn to report bugs effectively.

Hello,

I did changed the status from UNCONFIRMED to NEW

Usually done by developers and not by reporters, after (in simple words) accepting that the report is either a valid, confirmed bug, which needs to be fixed or is a reasonable enhancement request. It stays at UNCONFIRMED as long as nobody takes care of the report.

Am I supposed to allocate this to someone or group?

No, available developer resources, interests, engineering board decision, marketing deliberations and other aspects decide about assignment to people and thus making them responsible to solve an issue. It is not the reporters task.

(That’s how I understand the procedures)

It’s quite usual that bug reports or enhancement requests stay for a long time in the queue.
