How to display a range of pages on writer while editing?

My document is becoming lengthy and the scrollbar always thinner. Could be possible to group pages and display only those from a group?
ex. Show only pages from chapter 1

To be clear, in Calc spreadsheet are organised this way. You can make a new table on the bottom left of the window and you can select what spreadsheet to display. Each spreadsheet is listen on the bottom of the screen.
Do exist something like this available on writer either build-in or an extension?

I assume that you use headings (1 to x).
Then you can use the Outline folding:

A tabbed interface is not available in Writer, like what you find in Calc (and also in Draw).

This is consistent with text typically being “linear”, it starts somewhere and flows in a single stream until it ends. This contrasts with mathematical/financial/tabular data commonly handled by Calc, which typically interconnects in a complex, multidimensional manner.

  • Most likely @HrBrgr’s suggestion about outline folding is what you need. The compacting of chapters will reflect in the scroll bar/handle as requested.
  • There is a different approach which may also be useful in your case: Master document and subdocuments. Not as smooth as the folding, but visually perhaps closer to the tabbed interface. You can have all subdocuments open simultaneously, and select them through taskbar icon or alt+tab.
