How to export photos to JPG or WEBP at high resolution

I have prepared a photo collage / passport photo proof sheet with specific sizing requirements using LibreOffice draw.

I want to get it printed using an online photo printing service, so I’m trying to export the pages (one by one) to hi-res JPG or WEBP files.

I have set the LibreOffice page size to my desired output size - 6" x 4" (15.24x10.16cm) and sized all the pictures appropriately on the page.

However when I try to export as PDF, it looks like the maximum resolution I can export to is 37 dpi? This seems very low, certainly too low for photo printing!

One way around it might be to scale up the page size but that would mean resizing everything on the page as well. Is there no easier way to export it at say 150 or 300dpi?

As a workaround, it turns out you can export to PDF, and that comes out as a high resolution. Then you can convert the pages of the PDF one by one to JPG or WEBP with a standalone image conversion tool that lets you control the output resolution - either online or using something like GIMP.

But it would be nice if there was a better way to do this.

You set the resolution in the JPG Options dialogue that comes up after you have started to save. It is important to do the steps in order:

  1. Make a note of the dimensions, e.g. Width 6.00" (15.24 cm), Height 4.00" (10.16 cm)
  2. Select Modify resolution
    1. Change the units to pixels/inch
    2. Set your resolution, e.g. to 300 dpi (118 pixels/cm)
  3. Select Modify dimensions and set Width back to original size, 6.00" (15.24 cm)
  4. Set Colour depth and Quality if wanted.
  5. OK
