how to find external links

I keep being told that I need to update my external links. I thought I got rid of them all. I’ve tried to search for the link that is shown in Edit/Links to External Links and I find nothing. So where are my links?

Answer is:
The spreadsheet was corrupted.

@BeCheerful,

Do a search for “file:///”.

If you want to add more information, you can edit your question; also can comment an answer. Do not use Answer to comment.

I tried searching for file:/// it says Search key not found. I also turned on formulas and tried to find one.

@BeCheerful,

Searched with Regular expressions unchecked?

Would you share the file? Before remove sensible data from it. To do that, edit your question and use the paperclip.

There are many kinds of external links possible. A formula referring to an external file; or an external file linked as a sheet; or a linked image; …

Note that file:// is not the only possible kind of external URL. If you use relative URL, it might not include a protocol at all. Or you may reference e.g. something from http(s).

The file is this month’s food log (in work) I’m not uncomfortable. But it is beyond the max load to be sent. I am going to try parts into a blank and so see if I can track down the issue that wa

the only thing that I would have linked to this spreadsheet is another spreadsheet that I made. It is listed but I can not find the link. I tried bringing the first page over to a new file. It came over with it. So I made another spreadsheet and copied and pasted the area with the info and it did not move with it so I believe my spreadsheet is corrupted.

Choose menu Edit - Links to External Files…, select the source file listed there, and see what link appear below (text blue, underlined). Search for that in the document. Leave it if it’s useful.

From the LibreOffice Help on Edit Link: “This command is not available if the current document does not contain links to other files.”

Mark the circle to the left of the answer that solves your question.

The spreadsheet was corrupted.

You say the document was corrupted, but that need not be so. Find/Replace only looks at the formulæ in the cells or their values, but an external link can occur in various other places, such as in a Named Expression.

To find and remove the link
Open the file as an archive (on Linux: e.g. Ark); open the element content.xml with a text editor; look for file:///. If you find it in a <table:named-range> element, it is a Named Range or Expression; table:name="..." tells you the name; use Sheet|Named Ranges and Expressions to delete that item.
