How to fix user interface font in Ubuntu?

Hi!

I need to change user interface (UI) font (menus, buttons…) in Libreoffice software to conform all other apps which uses system font.
I try to use this Font-FAQ - Apache OpenOffice Wiki (and some others which essentially same) but it is not work.
My font, Terminus, not appear in LibreOffice’s list of fonts for substitution. Typing it manually not work (i.e. UI font still not Terminus). Even system-wide font substitution via ‘font-manager’ not work (while work everywhere except Libreoffice software).
Also i not see how to set UI font size when it is not system font.
Change ‘use system font’ checkbox not work (not changes anything).
There is many questions about this problem in various places, but still no solution.

How i can fix Libreoffice to make it not think that it is smarter than user?
I can use other than Terminus font, but it should be definetely bitmap font, not vector/TTF.

P.S. Also font in start screen labels (when you just start ‘libreoffice’) wrong / not system.

I don’t know if this is going to solve the problem, but I suggest first to upgrade to LibreOffice from version 3.5 to version 4.1 too see if there is something better. Version LibreOffice version 3.5 is at end-of life state since November 8, 2012: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan#3.5_release



Install LibreOffice 4.1 using LibreOffice PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-4-1
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libreoffice

Note: Above commands will REPLACE your LibreOffice 3.5 with LibreOffice 4.1

Thx. I try it, it work even worse, UI font chg. not work at all! I also try to some fallback:
Support of Freemono / Terminus

LibreOffice 4.1.4.2 NO / NO*
LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 YES / NO*
…
OpenOffice 2.2.0 YES / NO*
OpenOffice 1.1.5 (2003)without Java, YES / YES

  • NO - here means: Terminus not available at drop-down list, typing it manually not work.

Only OOO 1.1.5 work as expected (Not a big surprise, old softw. always better)
I will try to file some bugs

You can report a bug at: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
When reporting a bug write which version is working better. You can also reference to OpenOffice if it works better. You can add print-screens to make it more clear what exactly would you like to accomplish.
