I downloaded an Amazon CreateSpace .doc file with many pre-formatted styles.
The chapter heads are named “CSP - Chapter Title” with Font Size 22.
Now, when my booklet is ready I want to create a Content List based on this style, “CSP - Chapter Title” and Font Size 22.
How could I do it? Is it possible?
More than a decade back when I used MsWord there was a way to do it by using the outline view and then viewing the Outline of Heading Levels, manipulate them uniformly for chapter and paragraph headings, and copying and pasting the same from the Navigator(?) View to form the Table Of Contents.
I have forgotten the MsWord way.
I can understand that I did not do justice to explain properly my need. I suppose that my illustrious guides will know how to peruse the "CreateSpace Formatted Template - 6 x 9.doc ", if required, and be able to understand what is needed.
I could have attached the same, but it might have been a copyright violation. The western world is too perilous regarding copyright issues.
How to do it in LibreOffice Writer?
By default, table of contents (ToC) takes into account those paragraphs that have an outline level set (see Paragraph properties, Outline and Numbering tab). The number of levels to consider is set on Type tab in Insert → Table of Contents and Index → Table of Contents, Index or Bibliography.
When you insert a ToC, there’s a way to define which styles are taken into consideration. It’s possible on the same tab, when you select Additional Styles checkbox.
Also, you may change the outline level of the styles you need (like set CSP - Chapter Title's outline level to 1). Hovewer, I don’t know if that’s proper way, based on your workflow, where it could be that you cannot change outline levels.
Yes, following your advice I placed the cursor in each of the chapter paragraph and set the Outline Level to 1. They dutifully appeared in the Navigation Window. Then following further I inserted the Table Of Contents without any Additional Styles, as it was not required.
But I have registered the advice you have given and will shortly create another file and try your method without fixing the Chapter Title’s level to Outline Level 1.

I must say that setting the Outline Level to paragraph style is preferred method to both setting the level manually per paragraph, and to setting ToC to use custom styles; so if possible - use that method.
