I recently started using the JabRef plugin with LibreOffice Writer, which allows me to add citations from a BibTex database. Although adding a citation works fine, I have not found a way to generate a “bibliography” section (expanded text on “author+year+title+publication”) based on the citation entries in my text. Any suggestion on another plugin or Writer function to do this job ? Is this functionality better covered with JabRef alternatives (Zotero, Mendeley) ?

I tried the "Insert > Indexes… " option but it does not seem to use the entries that came from JabRef. So, I am only getting the title generated without the list of publications. I think this is because it expects the citation entries to be formatted as “bibliography 1” style.

In short:
Open Plugins–>Manage Plugins in Jabref. Press on ‘Download plugin’ and enter
the location of the jabref libre/open office plugin. At the time of writing this is
http://jabref.sourceforge.net/plugins/net.sf.jabref.oo.ooplugin-0.9.jar
Check at the official site for the latest version.
The plugin is installed and JabRef needs to be restarted. Now, start your office program and and then click on ‘connect’ in JabRef. Pushing should work and the Reference section is updated.
I encountered a peculiar error. I installed the plug in, restarted, did not work, deleted it from the plug in manager in JabRef and now it works. Weird, but it works like a charm.
This plugin is built into newer versions of Jabref, no extra download required. The download site has been updated, too: http://www.jabref.org/
I think you’re searching Menu “Insert” → “Indexes and Tables” → “Indexes and Tables...”, Index/Table Type “Bibliography”?
That’s not the way bibliography tables are constructed using Jabref. Instead, you click buttons in the Jabref window, and it ‘drives’ LibreOffice and handles the referencing numbers, the bibliography list, etc., from there.
