How to get a new, 2nd page WITHOUT the columns that page 1 (template) has

I have used a template for the first page of my document, and i like it.
now I want to make a second page that is plain and DOES NOT have the columns that are present on the first page.
how can i do that?

the only changes i have found removed all of the columns on both pages. not what i wanted.
ive spent an hour wading through options and have not hit on a solution.

thanks!
(edit: Linux Mint, LO-24.2.6.2, .odt)

Assuming your document is saved .odt and you can thus benefit from all Writer features, the solution is to use page styles.

Your first page will be under control of built-in First Page and subsequent ones under Default Page Style. First Page is configured from factory so that Default Page Style is automatically activated after a page break (implicit or manual).

All you have to do is to customise both styles (margins, columns, header, footer, background, …) and apply First Page on the first page.

If you don’t know what page styles are, read the Writer Guide for an introduction and experiment.

PS: when asking here, always mention OS name, LO version and, most important, save format.

although the style names are a little mixed up in my setup, I was able to get my doc formatted exactly like i want. obviously i need to spend some time on the writer guide you linked.
thanks!!
