How to have Libreoffice to open as a new Writer as default

When opening Libreoffice, can I force it to open as a new text document as default every time? I use writer 98 % of the time and calc the other. I wish there was a way to click my desktop short cut and it automatically go to a blank text document instead of the having to use drop down menu “file >new> text” steps every time. Is there a script or macro or shortcut key that I can employ to do this in a simple way since more likely than not I want a new, blank, text everytime?

Sorry for not including operating system: Win10 pro.

Which operating system are you using and how do you open now? The simplest method is to create a shortcut to swriter.exe on your desktop (if you are on Windows).

Unfortunately, you don’t share what operating system you are using.

For Windows there are these options:

Starting LibreOffice and modules

Hello,

on Windows

  • Right click on you Desktop -> New -> Shortcut
  • Type %ProgramFiles%/LibreOffice/program/swriter.exe into the Type the location of the item: field.
  • Click button Next
  • Type LibreOffice Writer into Type a name for this shortcut.field
  • Click button Finish

There should be a new Starter for Writer only.
