How to import text in specific format?

I’m making a spreadsheet of which I have already amassed the data for, but I’ve done it in such a way that it would be very tedious to manually enter it all in. I’m trying to compare resources from several regions in a fantasy setting, and so I have the resources and their amounts listed in text files named after each region.

What I have done is listed the regions along the spreadsheets’ X axis, and the resources along its Y axis, and now I wish to import the amounts of each resource from the relevant text files. Primary issue is that not all regions contain all resources, so to keep the resources in alphabetical order, I can’t just copy-paste the numbers for each region but would have to manually enter nearly all of them.

My question is this: Can I, for example, import the number ‘4’ next to the line ‘Food’, from a line from a text file that reads ‘4 Food’?

You should be able to do it with
Menu>Sheet>External links
when in desired cell.

I wasn’t quite able to figure out how to do what I wanted with this, though it’s certainly useful to know about. At this point I think it would take less time to manually enter everything than find out a way to it automatically the way I have it written. Now in the future I can organize things to account for this. Thanks!
