how to include footnotes in index

I have a document that includes some citations in the text and some citations as footnotes.

I want to include all the citations in an index, whether they appear in the text or as a footnote.

I am adding citations as index entries by going back through the document, highlighting the text, clicking Insert Index Entry, and the clicking Insert.

I have created an alphabetical index, and a user defined index.

Previously, the footnotes would not even be added as Index Entries.

Solved: When Creating the index, be sure to mark “Create From,” in this case “Index marks.” Sometimes that would be marked by default and sometimes not, so I finally figured out that it is necessary to set the index source.

Please edit your question to explain how you define your “citations”. Are they flagged with a specific paragraph style (if you want the full paragraph in the index)?

Here, LO 6.4.3.2, Fedora Linux 32. Alphabetical index includes entries from main text and footnotes.

How do you mark the locations to appear in the index?

Thanks, I don’t know why but now the footnotes are working the same as the citations in the text.

@cotulla: could you explain where you find “Create from”? I didn’t find it in the Index dialog. And, of course, I don’t see “Index marks”.
