How to migrate entire configuration for LibreOffice Writer?

Hello, I’m migrating my Writer configuration files to a new system. Initially I backed up only .config/libreoffice/4/user but this folder doesn’t seem to have all of my configuration inside it.

After restoring the user configuration, I’m still missing:

  • My keybindings
  • Interface colors/shadow changes (e.g. page styling)
  • Interface layout (e.g. toolbar positions)
  • General settings (e.g. disabling autocorrect, theme settings)

Where can I find the rest of my configuration files and how can I migrate them to the new Linux machine?

No, not just repeated. You mention a weird path. It must be ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user, not .config/libreoffice/4/user. Maybe, this is the reason of your problems?

These two paths are identical, I just omitted the ~/ home directory symbol. But as explained in the question not all of my settings are stored in that folder, so I asked where can I find the rest of the settings.

Omitting important details is not smart [1]. All user settings are in the user setting directory (and I have never had any loss moving settings across various systems). If something is missing, perhaps, you should check permissions and check if all data are really transferred.

Also, try copying them part-by-part to a new system, for example, the contents of ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/basic for macros.

Note: This is for the LibreOffice packages distributed by The Document Foundation. Versions provided by your Linux distribution may use a slightly different path.

So, probably getting the correct path for your distribution would do the trick?

Having said that:

  1. All data MUST be stored in profile, wherever it were;
  2. If your distribution would use a different path, then why were there be the path you mentioned in question?.. Confusing.
