How to put in book cover in LibreOffice that will save in epub?

I have followed instructions and get the image into the document, and export directly as epub, but when I send to kindle, it does not show a cover in my library. It just shows a blank cover. Once I open the book, the cover picture is there though. I’ve missed something in the instructions. Is the cover on Page 1? What style should it be? Can anyone point me to step by step instructions for getting the cover into the document, or put them here? Thanks!

Sorry, I thought I put the LO version in my question. 7.1.1.2 OS is Windows 10. This uploaded doc isn’t the one I did before, but I did it the same.
Edited: Now the image won’t stick in the docx.

Which ones?

First help us to understand the issue: OS name, LO version, save format. Do this by editing your question (= modify it, don’t use a comment). And attach a sample file reduced to your first two pages.

At first: Do you have any other epub-files showing a cover? It seems there have been many complaints on this last year. As most shown to me were in german language I link below an english post to a comment for a kindle-update fixing this. So it may be an issue with kindle, or with your epub.

Wanderer, that is it exactly! No, I’ve only tried to send one epub to kindle. I’ll try updating my libreoffice and see if that is the problem. Thanks!

The link above suggests to update the Kindle, not LibreOffice!

I updated my Kindle last week. I tried making the test book again and used the export as instead of export directly and sent to kindle again, and again the cover didn’t show. I turned off my kindle and turned it back on again and this time the cover showed. Oy, I think I’m too old for this.

It isn’t a reader device problem, neither LO version or OS; it’s still actual today 2024-12-30.
A step-by-step guide should be posted.
I’d try to put an image as cover using several image options in Writer, and exporting simply; then adding the image file link in Epub export dialog. Nothing has succeed.
For now the only way is opening epub file in external software (Ebook Editor) in which load the cover and asking to set it as book cover.
My LOw 7.3.7.2 in Xubuntu 22.04.

I create my epub books with Kindle Create and then add the cover using Calibre. This is a relatively simple operation but outside of the remit of a this Libreoffice site.
