In more detail: I’ve already gone into “Page Style” & “Header & Footer”, and despite unchecking both “Same Content on first Page” and “Same content on left and right pages”, they recheck the moment I return to my document in Writer. . . plus the “Right Page Header (Default Page Style)” and its pesky dotted line remains large as life across the top of the Writer page. So what O what is to be done??
You enable headers in a page style, which means that all pages with that page style will have a header, regardless of the content - if you want the chapter title on left pages and nothing on right pages, the header area will still be reserved on the right page. Then you have several options: the same content on all pages (good for centered page numbers), different content on left and right pages (left and right aligned page numbers, or book title left and chapter title right), and last but not least, some people don’t want a header on the first page of a document, so you have a special setting for the first page in a row with the same page style. When you have made your choices, you still have to make the changes in the actual headers. Then you have to save your file in the native format of Writer (.odt), because the concept of page styles is foreign to MS Word, and page styles don’t convert well to the MS Word sections.
Thanks for explaining that to me. Much appreciated.
