How to reformat these dates?

Reformat Dates 11.ods (11.4 KB)
Help, please. I think this should be fairly simple.
With Dates in column A, I want them to look like column C.
Notice that cells A10 thru A21 are TEXT, with the beginning ’ character.
How to remove that ’ character?
I tried “Find & Replace”… to no avail.
Thanks, people.

Assuming, you did not manually enter the text dates, this is a case of wrong text import from file or clipboard. Simply check option “Detect special numbers” on the import dialog.

Thanks very much for your input, Earnest.
I read tyhru that link, and I’m sure that it would work. However,
Further research found another post which suggested Find .* and Replace it with &
I don’t really understand How, but that seems to have worked.

Yes, Villeroy, the text was Copy/Pasted from a text file.
I wasn’t aware of that “Detect special numbers” option.

I Love this very helpful forum.
Thanks, people.

The .* under Regex means “Take everything”. & stands for “Insert everything you found.”
This seems to lead into a circle, but the insertion causes a new recognition process for the respective cell, and if your language settings contain M/D/Y as “date acceptance pattern”, and your locale uses ISO 8601 als the default format for dates, you get what you need.
