How to select multiple objects and assign the same animation and sub settings.

In Presentation I have multiple text objects and would like them to show one at a time on click.

In MSOffice for Windows one can select all, even in sequence, and then assign the desired animation to all in one shot. However in LO, and even MSOffice on Mac, I have to select the object and assign the desired animation for every single entry. This is a very time consuming process, and not very efficient.

Is there a work around?

If you don’t have to edit your text so proceed this way:

Cut the selected textboxes and insert (Paste Special) as GDI, so they are “grouped” and you may apply the animation. A later editing of the “text” is not easy; have a copy of the original slide for that…

If I understand correctly this will bring the entire group on to the screen with one click only. See I have one presentation sheet with 4 words One, Two, Three, and Four. I want them to move in one at a time - click 1 - number one appears, click…4 - number 4 appears . I know how to add the animation to each of the numbers one at a time, but can’t one select all the numbers and add the animation to all numbers at the same time.

I tried as well as you and did not succeed. Therefore I described the work around with conversion the text into a graphic GDI object. I understand that this is not very satisfactory…

Thanks Grantler, that is correct the text to graphic adds many new steps and as you also pointed out makes later editing very challenging. This feature is also wanting in MS Powerpoint for Mac. Let’s hope the Libreoffice genies can come up with an eloquent solution.

A negative answer unfortunately is valid some times. In LibreOffice Impress, it is not possible thus far to select multiple objects and apply the same effect to all of them.
Obviously, this is by times tremendously inefficient, tedious and time consuming.

The issue is filed in Bugzilla as Bug 133567. It is hoped that one day, developers can pick up on this limitation.
