How =WEBSERVICE() formula works?

Hi all,
I was not able to use the WEBSERVICE function.

I used the instructions at https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/Calc_Functions/WEBSERVICE but for me the example don’t work

I tested the formula

=WEBSERVICE("https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/download/help/README.md")

In the formula dialog I see some results

But when I clik the Ok button I see in the cell only the formula and not the result

What I’m doing wrong?

Paste it as Unformatted text or delete the trailing space

It is exactly what I’ve done:

  1. copy the text in an unformatting editor (for me kate)

  2. copied and pasted inside a cell (no leading and trailing spaces)

Same result.

BTW here is the file
prove-web.ods (12.4 KB)

Don’t know if it is useful; but in any way:
Libreoffice version informations:

Version: 24.8.6.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 480(Build:2)
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 6.14; UI render: default; VCL: kf6 (cairo+xcb)
Locale: it-IT (it_IT.UTF-8); UI: en-US
24.8.6-1
Calc: threaded

Don’t introduce unnecessary third party complications.
.

Click on the cell and then, in the menu, click Edit - Paste special - Paste as unformatted text

If the cell is already formatted as text then press Ctrl+M to revert to cell style. If the cell style is not Default cell style then double click that in the styles pane the sidebar
.

SOLVED

The cell was formatted as “text”. Formatting as “number” works
