I have been using LibreOffice on Windows 10 for several years now without any problems. But yesterday I was writing a new document and my screen locked up I had to switch off my computer manually so I was unable to save the document. When I restarted the computer, LibreOffice reinstated the document but when I went to open it, I was unable to. I now have the same problem with all my files (ODT). I have uninstalled LibreOffice and reloaded it to see if that would fix the problem but to no avail. If I click on a file and open it the LibreOffice logo flashes up and it looks like it tries to open the document but then the logo just disappears.
I have just had a Windows 10 update but I don’t think it as anything to do with the problem.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Does LibreOffice start, if you don’t double click on a file but just starting the application without a file (I’m asking this because you wrote the LibreOffice logo flashes up… we makes me feel , that there is a problem with the installation itself). Have you tried --safe-mode
from command line, if LibreOffice doesn’t start? Did you try to reset your user profile?
No LibreOffice does not start. It tries to load it and the logo flashes up and then nothing happens.
I have just Uninstalled 6.2 and reloaded 6.1 this has loaded in safe mode but still seems to have some
problems.
Ok - then please try to start on a command line, using --safe-mode
argument. This would temporarily use a fresh user profile. If it starts this way, then most likely your user profile is corrupt and you need to start with a fresh one. There is an option in the opening dialog of Safe Mode. Please do not install / uninstall - the user profile is not affected by installing or uninstalling. If it is corrupt you cannot fix by reinstallong LibreOffice (whatever version). Read this about User Profile
