In an earlier post someone said that opening hyperlinks was browser dependent. Partially true. Yes, you can right click a hyperlink and ask the browser to open in a new tab, but in Word, when you create a hyperlink, you have an option to open the link in a new page. Does LibreOffice (calc) has the same functionality. Another solution on the web was to select the _blank option in the Frame opton of Further Settings when editing a Hyperlink. I tried that, and it doesn’t change anything. Anyone else with an idea. I’m using both Edge and Chrome browsers.
To clarify, you are saving the Calc spreadsheet as HTML then viewing that in the browser. You want the hyperlink at that point to open a new tab rather than open in the same tab where you are viewing the saved HTML. Correct?
I am able to replicate your concern. Excel seems to correctly generate the anchor tag with the target="_blank" when that option is selected in its Edit Hyperlink dialog. LO 7.3 seems to be ignoring the options in its Edit Hyperlink dialog when saving as HTML. Perhaps we are both missing something, but it seems like a limitation of LO’s HTML export.
Correct and thanks for confirming my experience.
Bump. Please fix.

PS: I can no longer see any way to achieve a new-tab hyperlink in Excel, either.
As best as I can see, this is definitely a PDF question. Most of us are familiar with target=_blank in HTML. In PDF this seems to be very different. From LLMs and the Adobe site, it appears it may be possible to add (replace) an “action” to the hyperlink object that will have it open in a new tab. Per Adobe, among their products setting actions requires Acrobat Pro.
