I cannot limit a query in LibreOffice Base

I find this guy, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxYFbNDgxQg&list=PLy7Kah3WzqrEerJ0VPNWVaR4CYHMr4wmV&index=26, from whom I’m learning LibreOffice Base (LOB).

Problem is when I try to reproduce his example but LOB gives me the following message:

“The data content could not be loaded. at ./connectivity/source/commontools/dbtools.cxx:746”
“Unexpected token: 8 in statement [SELECT * FROM “tbl_Employees” LIMIT 8] at ./connectivity/source/drivers/jdbc/Object.cxx:173”

I remember, ten years ago, when tried for the first time everything was working good.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong but I cannot come up with a solution.

Thanks in advance.

PS: Below I loaded the same file example that we, the guy and me, are working with
odb26-Limit-Distinct-Calcs-Const.odb (536.0 KB)

Have tried this with your attached database and it worked well.
Which query does contain the code?

Maybe you need in older LO versions additionally the order by clause:
SELECT * FROM "tbl_Employees" ORDER BY "employee-ID" LIMIT 8

Hi, F3KTotal

Maybe is just as you said, in older versions of LO was not needed the “ORDER BY” clause as it happends in the video.

Thank you for your guide.

@ernesto : To set a limit through GUI has been added since LO 4.1. It never needed a order by clause since this version. Tested it with 24.8.3.1 without order by and it worked. So again the question: Which query in the example database won’t work?
