I can import the image. It appears in the .docx document. I then save the .docx document. I close. If I open the .docx document all the images I saved in the document is gone. Thank you. Regards, Deon@.
Use odt. 
Please remove tag common because this is obviously a writer question. Use the retag link for that.
Have you checked Tools>Options, LibreOffice Writer>View. If Images & objects is not checked in Display, they won’t show on reopening. See also View>Images & Charts.
Unless you have specific needs, don’t save .docx. There are tons of compatibility problems.

Which format was your image? DOCX can’t save SVG images, at least up to version 2019.
