I can't install 24.8 on my Mac 10.6.8

I downloaded the dmg from both the general site and also from a mirror in my country. But when I try to install either of them on my old Mac, (which already has Libre Version 4.3.6.2), I get a message “Corrupted image”.

My Mac is a Snow Leopard 10.6.8.

Am I out of luck?

You need macOS 10.15 or newer, so yes, unfortunately, you’re out of luck.

On the mirrorlist on the official LibreOffice downloads page it shows the SHA and MD5 hashes for the file. Can you check that the file matches?

If you don’t know how this is done, the following link should help.

Thanks for that link. Unfortunately that’s beyond my present skill set. But I’ll follow the instructions and try it.

May I ask, what will I do if I find that the file I downloaded doesn’t meet those SHA and MD5 criteria? Will it mean that the file I downloaded was faulty, or that my computer is faulty?

Thanks.

A difference in the check sums of your downloaded file and the listed check sum indicates that the download was faulty. Your copy is not the exact same file as the file that is stored on the download server. Instead of the check sum, the mere file size may give a rough hint. The check sums make it possible to check if the file is different, even when the size is exactly the same.
You can simply delete the download and start all over again with a new download.

Thanks. Think I’ll just settle for the one I’ve already got. It does the job. :slightly_smiling_face:
