I’ve been trying to email myself an .odt file and when it email it to myself it shows up as blank??
The safest way to email anything is to save the file to your drive and then add it as an attachment to an email.
Your question seems short on detail, see Ask/Getting started. Open LibreOffice then click Help > About LibreOffice, a dialog will open, in the middle is a small button that will copy your OS and LibreOffice version to the clipboard. Edit your question by clicking edit below your question. Maybe it is an effect of your email client, so better add that too
Presumably, you can wrap it in a password protected zip file and include the password in the email just to get it past gmail
