I can’t substitute blank characters for £ characters in a column.

For me it works
As unicode provides several “blank” characters (different width or protected etc.) try to copy the char from your source-text to the find-dialogue, if the dialogue above does not find your “blank”.

the search pattern »\s« seems to know all? white-space-characters inclusive Tab, with Option [x]regular Expression
